Nine days before Kaitlin Armstrong allegedly fatally shot Anna Moriah Wilson, the Texas yoga teacher snooped on her on-and-off-again boyfriend’s messages with the elite cyclist, prosecutors revealed on Wednesday during opening statements in the first-degree murder trial.
What Armstrong saw on Colin Strickland’s email and Instagram in May 2022 allegedly stoked her jealousy about his relationship with Wilson, whom he briefly dated in October 2021. Prosecutors said that while Strickland was on a trip to California, Armstrong viewed his messages and looked up pictures of Wilson on her phone.
Two days later, she learned that Strickland and Wilson were secretly meeting ahead of an Austin gravel race, Travis Assistant District Attorney Rickey Jones told the jury that will decide Armstrong’s fate.. That rendezvous, he said, was the final straw for Armstrong, who ambushed allegedly Wilson at her friend’s Austin home, shot her twice in the head, then stood over her and put a bullet in her heart.
