Portion of Highway 20/26 in Butte County closed due to ‘active law enforcement situation’

BUTTE CITY – Authorities are on the scene of an active incident in Butte City Thursday afternoon.

KJ Babcock, the emergency manager for Butte County, tells EastIdahoNews.com it began around 10 a.m. He was unable to provide much information, but says it’s an active law enforcement situation.

A section of U.S. Highway 20/26 is closed as a result. One mile east and west of Butte City from mile marker 251 to 253 is closed until further notice.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.

More information is expected to be released at a later time.
