
The following is a news release from Idaho State Police.
HAYDEN — The Idaho State Police is investigating a multi-vehicle injury crash that occurred Thursday at 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of US Highway 95 at Boekel Road, just north of Hayden.
A red Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 25-year-old male from Couer d’Alene, was traveling southbound on US 95 at Boekel Road. It struck a silver Toyota Rav4, driven by a 77-year-old male from Rathdrum, who was waiting to turn westbound onto Boekel Road from northbound US 95.
Debris from the crash struck a blue Subaru Outback, driven by a 47-year-old male from Athol. Debris also struck a white Ford F250 pickup, driven by a 33-year-old male from Rathdrum, and a blue Dodge Ram 3500 driven by a 54-year-old male from Spirit Lake.
The red Toyota Tacoma continued southeast through the median into the northbound lanes of US 95, where it struck a grey Subaru Outback, driven by a 75-year-old female from Laclede, who was heading northbound. At the time of the incident, a white Nissan Pathfinder, driven by a 21-year-old female from Sandpoint, swerved to avoid the incident and struck the grey Subaru Outback.
Three drivers from the crash were transported to the local hospital due to their injuries sustained in the crash. Northbound US 95 was closed for approximately three and a half hours. Seatbelts were in use in all vehicles. The crash remains under investigation.
