Police rescue 'high risk missing female' from stolen vehicle in Co Down

Police rescued a high risk missing person who had been held in a stolen car against her will.

Officers received reports that a high risk missing person was being held in a stolen vehicle before managing to locate it in Lough Money area near Downpatrick on the afternoon of Friday, March 7.

The vehicle, a silver Kia Ceed, had been stolen from a property in Downpatrick, Co Down, in the early hours of the morning.

After locating the vehicle, police arrested the male driver on suspicion of a number of offences which include Burglary, theft, common assault, driving whilst unfit, possession of a class c controlled drug and false imprisonment.

The missing female was rescued from the vehicle safe and well and returned home by police.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Officers from Sprucefield Interceptors and Mahon Rd Road Policing unit assisted our colleagues from Downpatrick today after it was reported a High Risk Missing person was travelling in a Stolen vehicle against her will.

"The Silver Kia Ceed vehicle was stolen as a result of a Burglary from the Downpatrick area in the early hours of this morning.

"The Stolen Kia was located in a remote area close to Lough Money by Interceptors early this afternoon and the male driver has been arrested for a number of offences including Burglary, theft, common assault, driving whilst unfit, possession of a class c controlled drug and false imprisonment. He was also arrested in relation to a number of outstanding matters from previous incidents.

"The High Risk missing female was located in the vehicle safe and well and was returned home by Police.

"The stolen vehicle has been recovered and will be returned to its rightful owner."
