Police make two arrests as they continue to investigate assault at property in West Belfast

Detectives at Musgrave Street are investigating an assault which occurred at a property in the Carrigart Avenue area of West Belfast in the early hours of Wednesday 18th December.

It was reported that a man in his 20s entered a property in the area shortly before 12:30am, and an altercation occurred with the male occupant, who is in his 40s.

Both men sustained injuries in the incident and two men have been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences.

Detective Sergeant Leeman said: “Shortly before 12.30am, it is believed that a man aged in his 20s entered the house and an altercation ensured with the male occupant, who is aged in his 40s.

“Both men sustained injuries which are not at this stage believed to be life threatening.

“Two men have been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances of the incident, and we would appeal to anyone with any information which might assist to call 101, quoting reference number 24 of 18/12/24.”
