Police have issued an appeal for information after a family returned home in the early hours of this morning to find that their property had been ransacked.
Officers were called to Ashbourne Manor in Carrickfergus at around 1:20am this morning and it is believed that the incident occurred some time between Saturday afternoon and the time of the report.
Appealing for anyone who may have saw anything suspicious or who may have doorbell or CCTV footage to come forward, officers said that the family have been left very upset.
Detective Sergeant Erskine said: “At around 1.20am this morning, Sunday, 22nd December, we received a report that the residents had returned home to find their home ransacked.
"We believe this occurred at some point between Saturday afternoon and the time of report, when the property was unoccupied. A sum of cash was taken during the incident.
"Understandably, the family have been left very upset by the intrusion into their home.
"Our investigation is continuing. Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area within the time frame above, or who may have relevant doorbell or CCTV footage, is asked to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 122 of 22/12/24."
