Police confirm 'sudden death' in North Belfast as emergency services attend scene

Police have confirmed a 'sudden death' took place in North Belfast this morning, with emergency services attending the scene.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call just after 9am on Wednesday, January 22, alerting them to an incident in the York Road area.

It is understood the incident took place in an entry way close to business premises on the corner of the Limestone Road and York Road. The NIAS despatched two emergency ambulance crews and an advanced paramedic, but stated "no one was taken from the scene."

In a statement, police confirmed they were in attendance at the scene of a "non-suspicious sudden death" in the area. Images from the scene show emergency services in attendance.

A spokesperson for the NIAS told Belfast Live: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 09:09 on Wednesday, 22nd January 2025 following reports of an incident in the York Road area, Belfast.

"NIAS despatched two emergency ambulance crews and an advanced paramedic to the incident. No one was taken from scene."
