Police block portions of local highways following apparent vehicle pursuit

BLACKFOOT – Authorities are investigating following some sort of police pursuit near Blackfoot Wednesday afternoon.

It happened a little after noon and ended off Interstate 15’s Exit 89, near the Sage Hill Travel Center & Casino along US Highway 91.

It’s not clear exactly what is happening. Multiple witnesses tell EastIdahoNews.com they observed a high-speed chase through the Blackfoot area, and many people have reported an air ambulance on the scene.

The southbound lane of Interstate 15 near Exit 89 is expected to be blocked “for an extended period of time,” according to an Idaho State Police dispatcher. US 91 near the intersection of the off-ramp is blocked as well.

Emergency responders from Bingham and Bannock Counties, along with Fort Hall and Blackfoot are on scene.
