Pocatello elects one new and two returning city councilors

POCATELLO — The results are in for the Pocatello City Council elections.

This election saw one new candidate take over a vacant seat and two incumbents hold onto their positions.

For Council Seat 1, the winner is Hayden Paulsen with 3,808 votes (46 percent).

The other candidates were Rainbow Maldonado, with 2,277 votes (27 percent); Steven Contreras, with 1,523 votes (18 percent); James Bucci had 587 votes (7 percent) ; and Carta Sierra “Idaho Law”, had 171 votes (2 percent).

The winner of Council Seat 2 is incumbent Brent Nichols with 59 percent of the votes (4,815). He beat out Craig Yadon, who brought in 3,365 votes (41 percent).

And for Council Seat 3, the winner is Corey L. Mangum with 5,590 votes (70 percent), beating out Gary Ekizian who had 2,386 votes (30 percent) for the seat.

The new terms of the new and returning city council members will begin in January.
