A person has been taken to hospital after a crash in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police in Ards and North Down were first on the scene of the collision in Co Down where a car had landed on its side in a field off the Millisle Road.

PSNI alongside NIFRS and Northern Ireland Ambulance service were able to remove the injured person from the car and transport them to hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said in a social media post: "At around 01:30 hours this morning Sergeants King and Coogan were on patrol when they were first on the scene of a road traffic collision.

"A white BMW has left the Millisle Road and landed on its side in a field.

"On arrival there was one injured person still inside the vehicle.

"We would like to thank NIFRS and NIAS for their quick response and assistance with stabilising the vehicle and safely removing the injured person who was then taken to hospital having suffered minor injuries."
