A notorious vegan activist laid flowers in the raw meat section of a supermarket and held a vigil for the dead animals in a bizarre protest.

Tash Peterson wore a pig onesie as she carried a jar of roses into Coles at Kardinya Park Shopping Centre, in south-west Perth, last Tuesday.

She then knelt down in the raw meat section and began to bizarrely pay her respects to the dead animals before a fed-up customer confronted her.

Ms Peterson placed photographs of slaughtered animals on top of cuts of beef, pork and lamb.

She adorned the section with roses before bowing her head in reverent silence as she played noises of animals being slaughtered on a speaker.

Her activist accomplice filmed the moment she was then approached by a staff member and asked to leave the supermarket.

'Please leave,' he says.

A defiant Ms Peterson remains kneeling and looks up to him.

'Is there any reason why? We were being silent,' she said.

The worker explains to the activist she is not allowed to record or bring personal items like flowers and photographs into the store.

He tells his co-worker to call the police before Ms Peterson collects her belongings.

Ms Peterson screams at the top of her voice encouraging shoppers to turn off meat.

'Who was murdered for your Christmas lunch? Pigs are only six months old when they are forced into carbon dioxide gas chambers,' she shouts.

'They literally burn from the inside out. They're just babies and you paid for their murder if you're not vegan.'

A fed-up shopper tries to intervene by screaming over her and making ridiculous gestures with his hands.

He follows her out of the supermarket and cups his ears with his hands urging her to be quiet.

'Yes, I agree with the acts of violence,' he says, raising his arm into the air.

Ms Peterson asks if he is proud to be an animal abuser.

'Yes,' he responds.

Ms Peterson is then asked to leave the shopping centre by security.
