Northern Ireland weather outlook for the first weekend of Spring

1 month ago 291

Spring has sprung across Northern Ireland as Thursday's equinox brought along some nicer weather.

The sun made an appearance yesterday as temperatures reached 15C in some parts of the country, making it warmer than Athens and was several degrees warmer than the average for this time of year, according to the Met Office.

Unfortunately, the dry spell may be coming to an end as we head into the first weekend of Spring but those lower teens temperatures are not set to go anywhere just yet.

While the Met Office forecast for Belfast on both Friday and Saturday forecast rain, things are set to dry and brighten up as we head into next week.

Here is The Met Office's the weather outlook for this weekend:

Friday:

A largely cloudy start to the day with some showers. Further spells of rain will spread north through the day, perhaps heavy and persistent at times.

Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Rather cloudy on Saturday with outbreaks of rain.

Sunny spells on Sunday once any patchy rain clears. Monday will then be dry and settled with sunny periods.

Looking at the UK as a whole, Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Steven Keates said: “While Friday will be another warm day for many, we start to see some wet weather arriving, initially in Cornwall but gradually moving to parts of Wales and central and southern England later in the day.

“This heralds the move to something more unsettled for the UK’s weather on Saturday, with more rain or showers developing for much England, Wales and Northern Ireland through the day, and some heavier bursts likely in places."
