This weekend marks the start of March and meteorological spring. It means we can say goodbye to those cold, dark, winter days and nights. The days are already feeling longer, with sunset after 6pm in some parts of the UK.
At the end of this month we can also look forward to the clocks going forward and the return to brighter and warmer days.
So if you're planning to head out and about this weekend, you'll want to know what to expect for the coming days on the weather front.
Here's what's forecast for Northern Ireland, according to the Met Office:
Friday:
Any patches of fog or low cloud burning off in the morning. Then it will be dry with sunny spells. Maximum temperature 10°C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Overnight rain soon clearing Saturday to leave a dry and sunny day. Dry and sunny on Sunday, cloudier later. Patchy rain at first on Monday otherwise dry.
UK long range weather forecast: Tuesday 4 March - Thursday 13 March
A split in weather conditions is likely across the UK during early March. Northwestern areas will see some rain and stronger winds at times, as Atlantic weather systems arrive from the west. These spells of wet and windy weather will drift southeast to some degree, but will weaken.
High pressure is likely to have more influence across the south of the UK, at least at first. Here, there should be a good deal of fine/dry weather at first with a chance of night frosts and morning fog patches, but some pleasantly mild afternoons, and feeling warm in the sunshine.
However, towards mid-March, there is an increasing chance of unsettled conditions becoming more widely dominant across the UK with more in the way of rain at times, even in the south.
