Norad Santa tracker 2022 LIVE MAP: Where is Father Christmas right now?

Right now, Santa is still flying over India, delivering gifts as he goes. He is now headed towards Sri Lanka, where he will arrive in just under seven minutes.

His journey is going like clockwork following this morning's technical issues - although they weren't Santa's fault, of course!

Santa and his reindeer are now on their way to India, travelling across mountain ranges from Kyrgyzstan.

They should be arriving in Gangtok in the next few minutes.

Despite having to deal with snow storms, fierce heat and high winds as he crosses the globe, Santa is so used to braving the most extreme of conditions that he is exactly on time.

Santa is back in Russia at the moment - and will be returning multiple times before the night is out.

He has just been to Norilsk and is now heading to Burmistrovo.

Santa appears tireless in the skies as he delivers presents across the globe - despite the fact there are still billions to go.

It takes 24 hours to deliver Christmas presents to all the children of the globe, so hopefully he has plenty of snacks and coffee aboard to supplement all those mince pies and sherry left out for him.

Santa is now directly over Thailand after visiting Hanoi in Vietnam.

He is headed to Chiag Mai, where he will deliver plenty of gifts to open on Christmas day.

Santa is now just off the coast of Singapore - getting further west by the minute.

There's still another ten or so hours to go until he reaches the UK, but Norad's tracker will keep us entertained every second of the day.

He has now delivered an impressive 1.5 billion presents.

In possibly the most festive visit possible, Santa is currently visiting Christmas Island.

Unfortunately for any youngsters, we have to tell you that it is not, in fact, Christmas there every day.

But we're sure their Christmas celebrations are extra festive.

Santa has come back to Australia this afternoon, this time to the western coast to make his deliveries to the rest of the nation's children.

He has just visited Perth and is now heading for Geraldton.

Santa is now headed across the sea to Brunei, having revisited parts of China.

He has just flown over the Paracel Islands and will arrive in Brunei in around two minutes.

Santa has moved on from China for now and is now over the Philippines.

He will be arriving in Manila in around two minutes, assuming no unexpected obstacles or weather fronts impede his journey.

Santa's reindeer have now reached China, the country with then world's largest population.

He will continue heading west as the day goes on. For everyone excited for his arrival to the UK, there are just 12 hours to go!

Santa's sleigh has been spotted by people in Kyoto, Japan in the last few minutes.

He is continuing his journey around the country, delivering presents to children. This is a good taste of what is to come for those in the UK and Europe later this evening.

Santa's sleigh is now heading to Sapporo in Japan, having just visited Iwo Jima.

Impressive, he has now delivered a whopping one BILLION presents - and there are still hours to go until he reaches Europe.

Having finished delivering in Australia, Santa is now on his way to West Papua.

He has already stopped by East Timor on his journey northwards. Each destination brings him one closer to hitting UK shores...

Santa is being watched all around the world today online, by children peering through windows, by parents who make sure their children are in bed by the time he arrives.

But what is he getting up to on his sleigh?

Photos suggest he is cool and collected as usual, carrying out his deliveries with his nine trusty steeds.

Santa is well on his way on the eastern coast of Australia now, and will soon hit Melbourne.

Norad's Santa tracker, which has been running every year since 1955, is still not working for users across the world today.

Issues have been reported in the US, Australia, UK and further afield.

In the meantime, we are using Google's Santa tracker until Norad gets back online.

Santa is now heading towards Japan, south from Russia, before continuing south and hitting Australia.

He is scheduled to arrive at Chichijima Island in the next couple of minutes.

Santa has just been spotted arriving over mainland Russia as he continues his journey.

He is currently delivering presents to children in Birobidzhan, in the far east of the country.

More than 38 million gifts have been delivered to children around the world so far by Father Christmas as he heads to Sakhalin.

There are not just 13 hours to go until he reaches the UK, and a lot more gifts to add to that tally before he gets here.

Santa has to travel to locations all over the globe overnight, from sweltering heat to sub-zero temperatures.

So how does his festive outfit keep him at a good temperature?

It's one of the secrets only known by the big man himself, but whether there are fans or underfloor heating hidden away in his sleigh, he will have to dress for all weathers for tonight.

In a sign which suggests Santa knows the world is watching, he has been spotted rather enjoying his Christmas deliveries this year.

This is how he was seen in the Kuril Islands - emptying his presents down chimneys without even looking!

He is putting all of his skills on display for those watching as he heads towards the eastern-most parts of Russia.

Some parents are beginning to panic about how their children will feel when they are unable to track Santa in real time on Norad.

Urup in the Kuril Islands is next on Santa's list as he heads north from Micronesia.

Things are all looking smooth for him so far, even if the Norad tracker is still not working!

Santa Claus is set to arrive in the UK in around 14 hours, according to our eyes and ears in the North Pole.

So there's a while to go yet to wait - but plenty of time to build up excitement as the big day draws closer and closer.

At the moment, Santa is on his way to deliver presents to children in the Soloman Islands, to the northeast of Cairns, Australia.

According to Google's Santa tracker, Father Christmas has already begun his journey across the world.

He has visited New Zealand and Fiji, and will soon be moving on to Australia.

We're pleased to report that Santa is on the way, despite the technical issues. Other Santa trackers place him as approaching Luganville, Vanuatu in the next minute.

He's currently to the east of Australia, just out to sea from Brisbane.

It's not quite clear why the Santa tracker has crashed. It could be due to the amount of people trying to use the site, or related to the ferocious storm which has hit the US overnight.

Blizzard conditions have been seen across much of the country, causing power outages, crashes and long delays to travel.

As the Norad tracker relies on US satellites, there's a chance damage to communications lines on US soil may be delaying engineers desperately working to reconnect Father Christmas with his fans.

Oh no! The trusty Norad Santa tracker has crashed as technology goes on the blink. We're not sure what this means for Father Christmas, but hopefully it's a technical error only and he's still out there delivering presents.
