Nicky Byrne has defended singer Ronan Keating after Louis Walsh called him "a prick".

The Westlife singer confronted his music manager on his podcast over the comments Walsh made about the Boyzone star during his time on Celebrity Big Brother.

In a teaser clip for his show, Nicky brings up Louis branding Boyzone's Ronan Keating a "p***k" but Louis defended the comment saying he didn't mean to say it "out of badness".

Nicky tells Louis: "You very recently called him a prick... and he's not a prick."

Louis then replied: "No, I just said it. It wasn't meant out of badness."

Referencing his controversial stint on the show, Louis said he was "there for a reason" and that producers wanted him to "say things I shouldn't say".

Louis has previously back-tracked on his comments about Ronan after leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house, saying: "Ronan and I is a little bit of panto, I loved working with him."

"He was a great worker, he's very driven, very good and he sacked me... so I don't say great things about him but I don't resent him and he's a good person."

Responding to his comments, Ronan previously said on The Late Late Show: "I've never been one to air my dirty laundry in public especially when it comes to Louis and myself, he does a very good job of that," adding that he'll "leave him be" to continue showing "his true colours."

Louis also opens up to Nicky about what he first thought about Westlife when he initially met them, admitting he was inspired to find an Irish boyband after seeing Take That at The Point Depot.

He said: "I saw them in the Point. I didn't expect them to be just a show. I didn't expect it be so entertaining."
