Acting President Choi Sang-mok said Monday the second Donald Trump administration is expected to have a "significant" impact on the country's economy, urging coordinated efforts among stakeholders.
The U.S. president-elect is set to take office for his second presidential term on Jan. 20, raising concerns about the anticipated escalation of global protectionism and its effects on the country's export-dependent economy.
"With the inauguration of the new U.S. administration just a week away, swift policy implementation could have a considerable impact on our economy," Choi said during a meeting with economy-related ministers.
The acting president also emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among the government, businesses and other economy-related organizations.
Additionally, Choi called for close cooperation with parliament in light of the ongoing political turmoil stemming from President Yoon Suk Yeol's brief imposition of martial law on Dec. 3 and his subsequent impeachment. (Yonhap)
