Ordinance was approved on Tuesday
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. – People along the beach in Daytona Beach Shores will soon be able to view addresses for buildings and homes facing the beach in the event of an emergency.
On Tuesday, the Daytona Beach Shores commission passed a new ordinance requiring addresses be visible on the beachside to help rescuers find beach goers during emergencies.
In the ordinance, each numeral must be no shorter than 1 foot in height, and each number must be at least 1 inch wide.

If someone doesn’t have a sea wall, it must be visible on a sign or fence.
In 2023, Volusia County Beach Safety said it conducted more than 2,500 water rescues and responded to more than 1,100 medical emergencies.
