Long-running tensions between Guy Sebastian and an elderly neighbour have reignited after the singer was allegedly threatened during a frightening confrontation that spilled into the street.

The inaugural Australian Idol winner has sought an apprehended violence order after Phillip Richard Hanslow, 65, allegedly threatened to kill him and kicked over a boundary fence outside his home in the Sydney beachside suburb of Maroubra.

NSW Police confirmed to Daily Mail Australia officers called to a Maroubra home around 1.30 pm on Monday following reports of a neighbourhood dispute between two men and arrested a 65-year-old man.

Hanslow was taken to Maroubra Police Station, where he was charged with stalking with intent to cause physical harm and damaging property.

Hanslow was bailed to appear in Waverley Local Court on February 2.

He cannot contact Sebastian or enter the singer's his property and is banned from possessing a firearm or a prohibited weapon, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Sebastian and his wife Jules brought the 1336sqm property in 2013 after a tense bidding war in 2013

They began renovations in 2016 which involved demolishing the original property to build their modern 'dream home' and moved in with their two sons in June 2019.

It's understood the neighbourhood feud between Hanslow and the Sebastians goes back to late 2016 when renovation and construction began causing chaos in the street.

Neighbours had long complained about the Sebastians' four-bedroom home, with many describing it as a 'fortress' because of its monolithic facade and others even threatening to move away from the area.

One middle-aged couple described the renovations as a 'demolition nightmare' after their living room wall was damaged during the renovations on the singer's home.

A neighbour claimed in 2017 said he had tried to speak directly to Sebastian to resolve issues - including his driveway regularly being blocked and construction going on into the night - but discussions had broken down between the pair.

'He's (Guy Sebastian) got a lot of money and we're only little people,' he told Daily Mail Australia at the time.

'He's not building a house, he's building a fortress.'

The latest drama for Sebastian comes weeks after his former manager was jailed for embezzlement following a lengthy trial.

Titus Day, 49  was jailed for a minimum of two-and-a-half years in November for withholding parts of his client's huge earnings.

Day was originally charged with 50 counts of embezzling at least $886,175 in royalties, performance fees and an ambassadorship from Sebastian between 2013 and 2020.

A jury at Sydney 's Downing Centre District Court found Day guilty of 34 offences in relation to money totalling $624,675.

The Sebastians shared a glimpse inside of their 'rock star' home shortly after moving in three-and-a-half years ago, showing the oversized floor-to-ceiling windows and lavish interior design.

Jules told Instagram followers at the time the huge space is necessary because it allows them to have 'as much natural light in as humanly possible'.

'When we began creating our dream home I was very passionate about letting as much natural light in as humanly possible,' she wrote.

'After renting a few dark homes during the time of the build, I began to realise that a lack of light was affecting my mood.

'Since moving into our house, raising the blinds and letting that light in, the vibe is lighter, brighter and lifts my spirits... Oh – and how lucky are we to have a private concert from @guysebastian right there in the front room?!'

The Sebastians have previously described their beloved $3.1million property as a 'rock star' home.

'We feel very lucky. Neither of us grew up in a house like this,' Guy told Who magazine in 2021.
