The Navy chiefs of Korea and the Philippines held talks Tuesday at a naval command in Korea and discussed ways to strengthen their bilateral cooperation, the Korea's Navy said.

Adm. Yang Yong-mo and his Philippine counterpart, Vice Adm. Jose Ma Ambrosio Quiatchon Ezpeleta, held talks at the Submarine Force Command in Jinhae, some 310 kilometers southeast of Seoul, the armed forces said.

The meeting was focused on ways to bolster military diplomacy and arms cooperation through high-level exchanges and education, it added.

Ezpeleta also visited the Naval Logistics Command in Jinhae to discuss ways to strengthen logistics cooperation between the two nations and visit the Korean Navy's maintenance facilities.

His visit to Korea came on the occasion of the ceremonies to deliver and launch two Philippine naval corvettes built by Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, scheduled for Thursday. (Yonhap)
