Una Healy has revealed she suffered a health scare just before Christmas - saying her mother thought she was having a heart attack.

The Saturdays singer ended up on an IV drip after suffering debilitating food poisoning. The Tipperary native had lunch with a friend before suffering the illness, which landed her in AandE in Clonmel.

Speaking to Sunday Independent's Life magazine, the mother-of-two said: "It was so severe that my body actually went into shock and my blood pressure dropped really, really low.

"Luckily my parents were there and knew what to do. My body started shaking because my blood pressure was so low, it was quite frightening. My mother thought I was going to have a heart attack so she phoned the ambulance and they put me on an IV drip and brought me to Clonmel (hospital), and I was there to 6.30am the next morning.

"I'd never experienced anything like that before but I was definitely in the right place at the right time because my parents were there. One of the last times she was ill before that was in the jungle, where unfortunately that spell of sickness was bookended with trips to the Bear Pit. That was really challenging.

"I don't think I can say too much, or how well I got on, but I know that I did my kids proud and that I did my best."

Una is one of the top talents taking part in Netflix 's new reality show Celebrity Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls.

Recounting her experience on the show as one of its 12 celebrity contestants, the former Saturdays star shared that the intense adventure was eased by the encouragement of her little ones.

"If they'd been worried about me or didn't want me to do it, I wouldn't have done it. But they were 100pc behind me. I said 'There's a chance I might be out first and, if I am, I'll be back in a few days' and Tadhg looks at me and says 'Why are you saying that?' I want you in there, we want you to win! Don't have that attitude! Be in there until the end!'"

"And that was it then. I knew then I had to put everything into it and not chicken out."

Hosted by Holly Willoughby, the show sees a group of celebrities drop into the Central American jungle as prey for adventurer Bear Grylls.

Una will join celebrities such as Mel B, Shirley Ballas, Danny Cipriani and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.

The show comes after we revealed Una has split from retired jockey boyfriend Aidan Coleman.

A source close to The Saturdays singer confirmed the news to us, saying the pair have split amicably after several months of dating.

The star and the Cork-born jockey, who retired last April, went public with their romance last November at the Irish Post Awards in London.

An insider said Una and Aidan have split, adding: "It's all very amicable and they remain good friends."

It comes after Aidan recently revealed in an interview that he has moved back to the UK after not being able to settle back in Ireland following his retirement.
