The mother of missing child Kyran Durnin has claimed she was assaulted and beaten in Ireland before escaping to the UK. The eight year old boy is feared dead as Irish police conduct extensive searches for him.
Dayla Durnin, 24, reportedly told her family, friends and UK police that she fled Ireland for her own safety, fearing another attack. It's understood that the individual she accused of attacking her is neither her partner nor Kyran's father.
Despite Kyran being declared missing by Gardai in August, it's suspected he may have died up to two years ago. Whether a complaint about Dayla's alleged assault was ever lodged with the police remains unconfirmed.

Now residing in Ipswich, Suffolk, Dayla has no intention of returning to Ireland. A family source revealed she is "terrified that she will be attacked by a certain individual and won't say more than that. She plans to stay in Ipswich and has no plans to return back to her hometown Drogheda."
The investigation into Kyran's disappearance continues, with Gardai pursuing all leads provided by the public, reports Cork Beo.
Child and family agency Tusla is assisting with inquiries, stating: "Tusla cannot comment on individual cases and in particular, we are conscious that there is an ongoing Garda investigation into this sensitive case."
"Tusla has been working closely with An Garda Siochana in accordance with our joint working protocol and our legal obligations and we will continue to work closely with Gardaí and other parties as required at this time."
