Maura Higgins is reportedly taking a cautious approach towards dating Pete Wicks after experiencing heartbreak in the past. Although she labels herself as single, the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! alum has been on dates with Pete, 36, one of which was recently pictured.
While in the jungle, the 34-year-old told her fellow contestants that she was "seeing someone" and tried to keep it secret until they were spotted sharing a kiss. In a candid chat with GK Barry, Maura revealed: "Well we've already been papped, tongues down each other's necks and we had no idea!".
A source has now told Heat Magazine that Maura's reluctance to make things official with Pete stems from her tendency to fall quickly for people and past heartaches.
"Maura's had her heartbroken by guys in the past, she has a habit of falling hard and fast for people," they claimed. "That's why, despite the fact that she really likes Pete, she's been careful not to commit too fast this time."
When asked about her bond with the former Strictly star during a recent interview on Lorraine, Maura gushed: "Honestly he's been so supportive. I didn't know if he was still in Strictly, I'm so proud of him and he's proud of me and I can't wait to see him."
Pete, who also maintains that he is single, showed his support for Maura during her time in the jungle by encouraging his Instagram followers to vote for her.
At the time, he wrote: "I've been George of the Jungle [on Strictly] but now it's time to vote for Maura of the Jungle."
The former Love Island star is now back in the UK, and is expected to catch up with Pete very soon.
Before speculation about their potential romance began, she was in a relationship with her Love Island co-star Curtis Pritchard and then went on to date Strictly dancer Giovanni Pernice.
Prior to her rise to fame on Love Island, Maura was in a long-term, nine-year relationship out of the spotlight.
