Masters Final Day tee times as Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau duel for green jacket

3 days ago 172

Rory McIlroy is on the brink of history as he heads into the final round of The Masters with a two-shot lead over Bryson DeChambeau. The NI man, who has yet to clinch the coveted green jacket to complete his major collection, could see his dream realised at Augusta.

DeChambeau, the two-time US Open champion, edged out McIlroy by a single stroke last summer to claim his second US Open title and will be looking to thwart McIlroy's ambitions once again.

Not far behind is Canada's Corey Conners, trailing by four shots, while a host of players including Ludvig Aaberg, Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, Scottie Scheffler, and Jason Day are still in contention for the prestigious title.

Golf fans will have plenty to cheer for with McIlroy and Rose joined by Tyrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Aaron Rai, Matt Fitzpatrick, and 2016 Masters winner Danny Willett all vying for glory. The action is set to commence at 2.40pm BST, with the final putt expected around midnight.

McIlroy, speaking before Sunday's showdown, emphasised the importance of focus.

"I think the big thing is to not make it a re-match. Stay in my own little world. Stay in my cocoon, in my little bubble. Keep my head down.", reports the Mirror.

He added, "I have to put myself in my own world and concentrate on myself and set myself a score. If I can set myself a target and achieve it, hopefully that will be enough.

"He [DeChambeau] will do what he does - I have to stay firm and stay in my own little bubble. I have a few little notes written in the back of my yardage book that I glance at every now and again while I'm walking the fairway.

"Just little reminders. Little, you know, one- or two-sentence things. I mean, all the cliché mantras that you've heard before, really."
