Masked man passes staff threatening note during attempted robbery in Newtownhamilton

A masked man armed with a knife passed a threatening note to staff during an attempted robbery in Co Armagh.

Just before 9pm on Friday, February 7, police received a report of an incident at commercial premises in the Dundalk Street area of Newtownhamilon.

It was reported that a masked man, wearing dark clothing and armed with a knife entered the premises. He approached a kiosk inside the premises and passed a note to a member of staff with a demand that they hand over money.

The staff member instead pressed a panic alarm and the male then fled the scene empty handed. Police have issued an appeal for information to help with their investigation.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Anyone with any information about this incident or who may be able to help with the investigation, is asked to call detectives in Newry on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1744 07/02/25.
