An investigation has been launched after the body of an elderly man was discovered in a shed.
Gardai said local Garda members, as well as other emergency services, were called to the scene in Spiddal in Connemara, Co Galway, on Monday upon the discovery of a man's body in a shed at the property.
The man, who was in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course, Galway Beo reports.

It is understood that the man's death is being treated as a tragic accident and foul play is not suspected. A file will now be prepared for the coroner.
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí attended following the discovery of the body of a male (aged in his 80s) at a residential location in Spiddal, Co. Galway, on Monday 27th January 2025.
"The body of the man was removed to University Hospital Galway for post-mortem examination. A file will now be prepared for the Coroner."
The man's body was discovered just days after Storm Eowyn wreaked havoc along the island of Ireland. Connemara was particularly badly hit by the storm, with gusts of over 180km/h recorded at Mace Head in Carna, making the storm one of the most powerful to hit Ireland since the so-called "night of the big wind" in 1839.
