Man dies on highway 30 following police pursuit

POCATELLO — A man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police pursuit Thursday night.

Few details have been released but EastIdahoNews.com has learned law enforcement initiated a pursuit on a man before he stopped on Highway 30 between the Simplot facility and Philbin Road in Pocatello. Authorities from the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office confirm the man then shot himself.

Pocatello police were called out to assist by closing the highway to keep the area clear of traffic.
