Man charged after teen 'stabbed in face and head' in Co Down

Police have charged a 25-year-old man after reports of a stabbing in Co Down on Friday evening.

Shortly before 7:45 pm last night, officers received a report that a man had been stabbed with a blade in the Dundrum Road area of Newcastle.

The victim, who was aged in his late teens, sustained a number of stab wounds to his face and head.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives investigating a stabbing in the Dundrum Road area of Newcastle on Friday 11 th April, have charged a man to court.

"A 25-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

"He is due to appear before Downpatrick Magistrates Court on Monday 14 th April.

"A 16-year-old boy, also arrested, has since been released on police bail to allow for further enquiries.

"As is usual procedure, all charges are reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
