BLACKFOOT — A man is facing multiple charges following a police pursuit in Blackfoot Saturday night.
Brent T. Sequints was booked in the Bingham County Jail on felony eluding, second-degree kidnapping and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
The situation began around 7:30 p.m. when Blackfoot police officers tried to stop a vehicle Sequints was driving on Pacific Street near Lilac Street. Sequints took off, according to a news release, and police briefly followed but discontinued the pursuit out of a concern for public safety.
Police learned the vehicle had been reported stolen from a nearby location and a juvenile was inside the car when it was taken.
“Moments later, the suspect vehicle was found abandoned around Broadway Street and Washington Street, with the juvenile found inside the vehicle,” the release says. “The Blackfoot Police would like to thank business owners in the area who allowed patrol officers to quickly gather witness statements and video surveillance that led to the arrest of Brent T. Sequints Jr.”
The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Blackfoot Police Department during the incident.
Sequints is expected to make an initial court appearance Tuesday. Anyone with information on the situation is asked to contact the Blackfoot Police Department at (208) 758-1235.
