Man arrested following overnight burglary at north Belfast shopping centre

A man has been arrested following an overnight burglary at a Belfast shopping centre.

Police are appealing for information following the incident at Cityside Retail & Leisure Park in the Yorkgate area of north Belfast. Shortly after 2am today, Sunday 17th November, an ongoing burglary involving a number of men was reported to police.

Officers attended the scene, and it was discovered that a games console had been taken from a vending machine, and a window at the premises had been smashed.

One man, aged in his 30s, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to steal and attempted burglary with attempt to steal. He remains in custody at this time, assisting with police enquiries.

A PSNI spokesperson said: ““Our enquiries are continuing, and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed any suspicious activity, or who has any information which might assist, to get in touch. The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 188 of 17/11/24.”
