Deputies said it was a domestic disturbance

A suspect was arrested Sunday after an hours-long standoff in an Orange County neighborhood.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A suspect was arrested Sunday evening after an hours-long standoff in an Orange County neighborhood.

This incident started after deputies received a call for a domestic disturbance in the 4700 block of Teresa Road.

In a statement, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said, “Deputies made contact with the female victim but the male suspect initially refused to come out of the home.”

“I actually saw the Sheriff’s car coming and once I saw three or four Sheriff’s coming at 5 and 6, I knew something serious had happened,” said Ms. Mary who is apart of the neighborhood watch for that area.

Ms. Mary and other neighbors News 6 spoke to say they were shocked to see deputies in their area, saying it’s a quiet, tight-knit community.

Deputies negotiated for more than two hours with the suspect who barricaded himself in the home on Teresa Road with children still inside.

As neighbors waited for the conflict to be resolved, Ms. Mary said, “We are hoping there is a positive resolution for whatever is going on down there with the family I pray for the situation for both parties.”

Deputies said they were able to secure the children and arrest the suspect without any incident.

The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital.

News 6 did ask for more information about the nature of the disturbance and if the suspect will face any charges.
