Man arrested after driving at 112mph on M1 whilst 'twice legal limit'

A man has been arrested after driving at more than 100mph on an NI motorway on Tuesday.

Taking to social media, NI Road Policing and Safety shared that the driver has also been disqualified from driving and did not have insurance.

A roadside breath test also found the man to be 'twice' the legal limit and he remains in custody on January 28.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "The driver of this Mercedes was detected at 112mph on the M1 earlier today by Road Policing officers from Mahon Road station.

"When speaking to the driver we noticed a smell of alcohol from his breath.

"A roadside breath test was conducted which found the driver to be more than double the permitted limit.

"To make things worse, the driver was also disqualified from driving and was uninsured.

"He has now been arrested for these offences as well dangerous driving and remains in custody."
