Gloria Hunniford has shared details about a frightening health scare that saw her requiring emergency hospital attention. Suffering from kidney stones, Gloria went through several medical procedures, including an initial surgery followed by a second operation weeks later to remove a stent.
The Loose Women presenter vividly recalled the moments before one of her surgeries when optimism was high. Gloria recounted: "The last thing they said before I went to theatre was: 'When I take this stent out you are going to feel so much better."
Yet, upon waking up from general anaesthesia, Gloria confronted severe complications. She narrated the alarming situation that followed: "But the next thing I knew coming out of the anaesthetic, was a nurse saying to me, 'Don't worry, don't panic but we are having to transfer you by ambulance to a different hospital because we can't get your blood pressure up'."
Found in a vulnerable state, with critically low blood pressure, the 82-year-old TV presenter had to be urgently shifted from a Maidstone hospital to another emergency department. Reflecting on the ordeal, Gloria revealed how it left her entirely sapped of energy: "It was like somebody had put a tap in my body and just drained all the energy."
Gloria Hunniford's harrowing health issues were eventually traced back to kidney sepsis, fortunately, the infection had not spread beyond her kidney. Reflecting on the experience, Gloria said: "I guess that's why I felt so awful and it did flatten me for a while.", reports Edinburgh Live.
The TV host has bravely opened up about her recent health scare, revealing how she spent most of her days resting and sleeping due to low energy and appetite. Medical professionals warned her that it could take up to six months to recover fully after two anaesthetics in quick succession.

However, Gloria made a remarkable recovery, attributing her swift return to health to setting small goals for herself and the unwavering support of her late husband Stephen and their family. She fondly remembered: "I set myself little tasks and my [husband] Stephen was marvellous. He was chief cook and bottle-washer and my whole wonderful family rallied round".
Now almost fully recovered, Gloria has regained around "98%" of her energy. Her recent ordeal has only strengthened her resolve to tackle life's unexpected challenges.
"We all know that stuff will be thrown at you, and it's how you deal with things," she noted.
