Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan 'training' herself as she opens up about 'regrets'

Coleen Nolan has opened up about her efforts to avoid impulsive remarks, sharing that she's "training" herself not to "blurt things out" when angry.

The Loose Women panelist has taken a conscious decision to step back from situations that might make her angry. Coleen says this means she can calm down instead of reacting before she thinks.

Her candid admission came after she acknowledged on the Loose Women podcast that she sometimes regrets comments made on the show. When fellow presenter Janet Street-Porter inquired if she had ever said something that upset friends or family, Coleen admitted: "I'm sure I have actually.

"That's just natural in life and especially if all of a sudden you are angry and you'll just blurt something out because you know, words hurt a lot. That's why now, if I get angry about something, I take myself away for 20 minutes to calm down.

"Then I have a discussion about it, rather than just be angry and blurt something out that I will later regret later on. Have I said things that have gotten me into trouble on this show over 24 years? Hundreds of times."

Janet opened up about her struggles

She also expressed the challenges of ensuring her words reflect her true thoughts and the fear of being misunderstood, reports Leicestershire Live. She said: "It's a minefield."

Coleen confessed that she often "speaks before she puts her brain in gear" and acknowledged that being on television can lead to speaking "speak really quickly". Janet suggested that Coleen's past as a member of the Nolan Sisters might also shape her on-screen persona.

Janet commented: "I think you're really funny and the thing is, you love having a laugh, and having the last word. You love having a laugh and the payoff line, because you are a performer and were a performer on stage before you were on television so it's natural that you want the last word and I can see how some people might think that was a bit near the mark."

The duo shed light on the dynamics between Loose Women panelists, which can sometimes be misunderstood by viewers. Coleen clarified that she is "never offended" when Janet "has a go at her", but this can be perceived as a "war of words" between them.

Janet disclosed that she was a "whingey cow" during her "in her forties" and was frequently told she had "crossed a line" when expressing her opinions. She concedes that she does it "less now" than she did three decades ago.
