POCATELLO — Menopause isn’t just a battle for women.
Local author, educator, and entrepreneur Jennifer Erchul is here to help with the launch of her new book, “Menopause for Men: The Only Guide You Need to Support and Survive Menopause with Your Partner.” It’s a must-read for women and the men in their lives who are wondering why the thermostat is stuck on “Arctic blast.”
This insightful addition to Erchul’s popular “The Menopause Chronicles: Laughing Through Life’s Hormonal Changes” series addresses misconceptions about menopause and provides practical advice for men facing the challenges of supporting their partners during this time.
Erchul, who has a background in clinical psychiatry and English, said she started the book series out of frustration while going through menopause herself.
“I was tired of my symptoms being diminished by doctors and not getting answers,” she said.
She began diligently researching, calling, and interviewing doctors and specialists nationwide, saying, “I’m a girl who needed answers. I demanded answers. Women must speak up for themselves and be their biggest advocate.”
Throughout the process, she tried to explain to her husband what she was experiencing, such as hot flashes and night sweats.
“They (husbands or partners) think we’re exaggerating our symptoms and using menopause as an excuse for mood swings,” she said. “Partners should navigate menopause together and support each other instead of trying to kill each other. With the right perspective, it can even be something you laugh about.”
“Menopause for Men” takes a unique approach by addressing the menopausal journey from a partner’s perspective. With chapters that delve into everything from hot flashes to emotional rollercoasters, the book emphasizes the importance of understanding, empathy and humor.
“I hope men read this book to understand menopause and what their partners, mothers, and sisters are going through,” Erchul added.

Doctors, podcasters, and industry professionals from around the country have responded to Erchul’s work, praising her for bringing laughter, relatability, and actionable advice to a topic that’s often overlooked, not talked about, or misunderstood. Erchul’s ability to tackle complex topics in a way that resonates with audiences has made her a sought-after voice on the subject.
Besides being an accomplished author, Erchuls has deep roots in the Pocatello community. She co-owns E-Squared Creative LLC, a digital media company, and Chute Trainer, a sports training aid company manufactured in Blackfoot. As a former adjunct professor at Idaho State University, she taught communication, media, and persuasion courses, inspiring the next generation of storytellers, reporters and content creators.
Erchul also dedicates her time to several community organizations, including the Portneuf Greenway Foundation, the Pocatello Advertising Federation, Zoo Idaho Zoological Society, The Pocatello Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce, Zonta, and FARE Idaho. Together with her husband, Rory, she co-owns The Yellowstone Restaurant, the 313 Whiskey Bar, and Union Taproom, destination dining in downtown Pocatello.
