Live: Disruption after lorry crashes into bridge in Co Antrim

There are reports of traffic disruption in Carrickfergus this afternoon after a lorry crashed into a bridge in the town.

Police have closed the junction of Albert Road and North Road in the Co Antrim today following the collision and are asking drivers to find alternative routes for their journies.

Translink has also warned that all services in Carrickfergus on Saturday, November 30 are likely to exprience disruption due to the collision, including train services, with a shuttle bus running between Whitehead and Carrickfergus stations.

A Translink spokesperson said: "Due to extremely heavy traffic congestion, following a road closure due to a Bridge strike, all Carrickfergus Town Services will be severely disrupted until further notice."

A PSNI spokesperson said: "The junction of Albert Road and North Road in Carrickfergus is currently closed to traffic due to a lorry colliding with a bridge. Drivers are advised to seek an alternative route for their journey."
