Linfield vs Glentoran LIVE build-up, TV and live stream info for BetMcLean Cup clash

4 months ago 253

It's always big when Linfield and Glentoran play each other, especially when it's a knockout game of cup football. The 'Big Two' rivals lock horns for a third time this season in the Last-16 of the BetMcLean Cup.

The Glens have held the upper hand in the previous two encounters. They both came in the Irish Premiership with Declan Devine's side earning respective 3-1 and 1-0 victories.

They showed their mettle on both occasions. In October they came from behind to win 3-1 at Windsor Park, and last month they overcame James Douglas' sending off to record a spirited 1-0 success.

The Blues will be gunning for revenge tonight, as they look to continue their stranglehold on the BetMcLean Cup trophy after they went all the way last season. David Healy's men defeated Portadown in the 2023/24 final.

Can they record a welcome derby win tonight and stay in the hunt for a third successive BetMcLean Cup success?

Devine in 'pride and passion' call ahead of derby showdown

Declan Devine has demanded "pride and passion" from Glentoran as they look to record a 'Big Two' hat-trick over Linfield. The Glens travel to Windsor Park on Tuesday in the last-16 of the BetMcLean Cup having already beaten the Blues twice this season.

They came from behind to earn a 3-1 victory at Windsor Park in October, and followed it up with another resolute 1-0 success at the Oval last month. Despite the double high, Glentoran's inconsistency continues to plague their season, with Saturday's 2-2 draw with basement club Loughgall once again stalling hopes of a momentum-building run.

Devine admitted his side once again shot itself in the foot, but the determined Glens boss believes the BetMcLean Cup offers the club a chance to "park the inconsistencies of the league".

He said:

“The League Cup gives us a chance to park the inconsistencies of the league and focus on putting together another cup run. We’ve already booked our spot in one cup final this season, and we’re determined to keep that momentum going.

"Linfield are top of the league for a reason, but we’ve matched them and beaten them twice this season. We know what a derby means to the fans, so it’s about delivering another big performance, matching their hunger, and showing what this group is capable of.”
