Vicky McClure has addressed the swirling rumours about a Line of Duty comeback, stating she's open to possibilities.
Over the recent weekend, reports surfaced claiming that writer Jed Mercurio and the leading trio – McClure, Martin Compston, and Northern Ireland's own Adrian Dunbar – had agreed to return for another series, with production allegedly starting in January 2026.
However, while on The Oliver Callan Show on RTÉ Radio 1, McClure said: "What can I say, I read the same news you all read! Nothing has changed. No news I'm afraid, I don't know where that came from."
Callan mentioned the fans' eagerness for more of the BBC hit, to which she responded: "Listen, we love that."
She continued, expressing her reluctance to mislead fans: "The thing is, if I had something to tell you I would, but I don't! I don't want to tease people unnecessarily.", reports the Irish Mirror.
"It's great that they want it, but they're stories at the end of the day. We don't want to rule it out."
The actress also touched on her relationship with her Line of Duty colleagues, mentioning their tight-knit bond despite busy schedules.
She shared: "We see each other a lot at the moment and I've got to say it might seem like we are drip-feeding something, but in all seriousness, Martin lives in Las Vegas some of the year, Adrian is obviously sometimes in Ireland, sometimes in London and I'm most of the time in Nottingham, Jed's here, there and everywhere..
"We are all very busy but the last, sort of, month, we've all been in London so we've made as much time for each other as we can because we're mates... we've met up for a curry, we've met up for a beer."
She further spoke about her Line of Duty co-star Dunbar, who portrays Superintendent Ted Hastings in the series: "Adrian Dunbar is on fine form, he's all good. We all met up the week before and had some food, which was lovely.
"He's a really funny guy, always got good one-liners, but his Ted one-liners are something else."
The Nottingham-born actress also shared her fondness for Belfast, where Line of Duty was primarily shot.
"I've spent I'd say over 10 years filming there and I've got to know the city really well," she expressed.
"They're so welcoming, we've always had a brilliant time filming there, the nightlife is great, the food, the people. We've always felt really at home there."
