Lifford attack: Two men arrested after 'serious assault' on man in his 20s

Two men have been arrested in the Derry area after the 'serious assault' of a man in his 20s in Co Donegal.

The assault is reported to have happened in Lifford on Monday morning, January 20. The man, aged in his 20s, was one of two men assaulted in a house and was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

A second man, who is aged in his 60s, was brought by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of less-serious injuries.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Serious Crime Branch who are assisting colleagues in An Garda Síochána with the investigation into the serious assault of a man in his 20s in Lifford, County Donegal have arrested two men in the Derry/Londonderry area.

"They are currently in police custody at this time."
