Lee Na-hyun grabbed bronze in the women's 1,000-meter speed skating event at the Asian Winter Games in northeast China on Tuesday for her fourth medal of the competition.

Lee posted a time of 1:16.39 to finish in third place at Heilongjiang Ice Events Training Center Speed Skating Oval in Harbin. Han Mei of China won the gold in 1:15.85, followed by another Chinese, Yin Qi, at 1:16.08.

Lee, 19, had earlier won gold medals in the 100m and the women's team sprint, and silver in the 500m.

Lee skated in the seventh pair with Anna Kubo of Japan, and posted the fastest time on the track up to that point, with six more skaters to go.

In the very next pair, Han topped Lee's time with 1:15.85, while another Korean skater, Kim Min-sun, put herself in third place at 1:16.74 with four skaters remaining.

Then in the ninth pair, Yin clocked 1:16.08 to move into second place, pushing Lee down to third place and Kim out of medals with two skaters left.

Neither skater in the final pairing, Nadezhda Morozova of Kazakhstan and Kang Soo-min of Korea, could crack the top three, as Lee hung on for the bronze. (Yonhap)
