Large police presence near motel in Idaho Falls

IDAHO FALLS — A large detachment of local law enforcement was dispatched to a motel in Idaho Falls on Monday afternoon.

The Idaho Falls Police Department and Idaho State Police arrived at the Econo Lodge at 1448 West Broadway after 3 p.m., and immediately blocked off the parking lot of the motel and adjacent restaurants.

It’s not exactly clear what is going on. Police have the entire hotel surrounded.

Idaho Falls Police spokeswoman Jessica Clements called it an active police incident and encouraged residents to give the area a wide berth.
