Joel Cooper speculation mounts as Linfield boss places mammoth price tag on star

David Healy has warned any club wanting to buy Joel Cooper in January that they'll have to pay £1 million for the coveted winger.

The 28-year-old has signed a pre-contract with Coleraine but speculation is mounting that the former Oxford United winger could be prised away from Linfield in the upcoming transfer window.

Healy responded to reports last week and was once again questioned about it following Saturday's 1-0 win over Glenavon. Cooper was suspended for that clash but is set to return for Boxing Day's massive 'Big Two' derby with Glentoran at the Oval.

When asked about Cooper potentially leaving in January, Healy told the Sunday Life: “It will not be happening. If Coleraine or any club wants Joel Cooper in the January transfer window, if they pay Linfield Football Club £1m, then our Board might have a decision to make.

“If it is any less than £1m, it will not even be discussed. Joel will be at this football club in the New Year – one million per cent.

"So, if anyone wants Joel for four months’ service for £1m, the people upstairs (the Board) will have a decision to make. Joel will be with us in the second part of the season."
