Joe Lieberman, the Democrat-turned-independent who served as a U.S. senator from Connecticut for nearly a quarter of a century and ran for vice president in 2000, died on Wednesday in New York City. He was 82.
His family, who confirmed his death in a statement to The Washington Post, said the cause was complications from a fall.
