A Jeju Air passenger plane takes off in Incheon International Airport, Jan. 7. Yonhap
Jeju Air said Monday it has acquired a new B737-8 unit, marking the company's third unit of the same model following two deliveries in 2023.
Manufacturing of the aircraft was completed on Dec. 19 at Boeing's factory in the U.S. state of Washington, according to the Korean low-cost carrier.
The plane, which originally has 189 seats, has been modified under a 174-seat configuration, with 12 business seats and 162 economy class seats.
It will undergo maintenance system checks and receive the necessary certification from authorities before being deployed for operations.
Jeju Air signed a purchase agreement with Boeing for 50 737-8 aircraft units in November 2018. With the latest acquisition, the airline now has a fleet of 41 aircraft. (Yonhap)
