Jamie Carragher makes firm Conor Bradley statement amid Liverpool transfer talk

Jamie Carragher insists Liverpool don't have to look too far to find Trent Alexander-Arnold's replacement at Anfield. He believes there is one man who can fill the void, despite the club identifying two potential transfer targets.

Alexander-Arnold appears to be closing in on a move to Real Madrid this summer, and former defender Carragher has urged Arne Slot to promote from within for his replacement.

The potential exit of Alexander-Arnold would create a significant gap on Liverpool's right flank, a position that might not be the only one needing reinforcement. Over the last year and a half, Northern Ireland star Conor Bradley has shown considerable potential and has made a strong impression whenever called upon by Slot or previously by Jurgen Klopp.

While waiting in the wings behind Alexander-Arnold, Bradley has earned Carragher's confidence as the homegrown talent ready to take over, especially given the current scarcity of elite right-backs available, reports the Mirror.

Carragher previously commented on Sky Sports: "When Liverpool have had Conor Bradley in the team this season, he's looked the real deal, and I don't think the right-back market this summer is alive with lots of amazing right-back.

"So I think the way for Liverpool to go if Trent moves on is for Conor Bradley to be given his head, but also for Liverpool to buy a utility player who can play across the back-four, like what Joe Gomez has been in the past few years.."

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso as a potential new right-back, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. However, they could face stiff competition from Manchester City, who were close to signing the Italian in January.

Despite Juventus' reluctance to let go of Cambiaso, a move could still be on the cards with the Serie A club potentially demanding around £50m due to interest from Premier League clubs.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also reportedly initiated talks over the signing of full-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. The young player, one of Europe's most sought-after talents, is believed to be on the Reds' radar, with discussions said to be in the early stages.

Frimpong, a product of Manchester City's youth system, has made a significant impact at Leverkusen since his transfer from Celtic in 2021, even boasting a Bundesliga title. Despite Leverkusen's track record of retaining their top players, the departure of Xabi Alonso this summer could alter the situation.
