ITV I'm A Celebrity fans 'work out' real reason next vote-off is cancelled after announcement

Viewers of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! are on the edge of their seats anticipating a significant twist, after presenters Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly hinted at a "big surprise".

The duo announced there would be twist in store for the campmates, and promised viewers that all details would come to light in Wednesday's episode (December 4).

Following Melvin Odoom's departure from the ITV series on Tuesday night, the Geordie duo made it clear that there would be no vote-off on Wednesday, with the public unable to cast their votes for the next celebrity to leave. Without confirming whether an eviction will occur, Ant and Dec sparked intrigue amongst viewers who swiftly took to social media to dissect the announcement, reports the Mirror.

Two leading theories have surfaced among the audience: one suggests a departed campmate might make a dramatic comeback just days after being voted out, and the other that the closure of the public vote indicates that the eviction decision will fall to the campmates themselves.

Dec addressed the audience, saying: "We are not reopening the vote for tomorrow because we've got a massive surprise for them. More will be revealed in tomorrow's show."

One viewer speculated: "No vote tomorrow because Houdini is returning," mentioning ousted participant Dean McCullough. Another viewer hazarded a guess: "The twist is definitely either no one's out (which I doubt) or camp vote but camp vote kinda seems obvious."

Echoing similar thoughts, another fan remarked: "What's this surprise twist? The campers can vote against each other over the normal public vote." A different fan aired their theory: "The big surprise will probably be a free for all head to head and the bottom either go or go up for a quick vote. That's my prediction anyway."

Concern was rife among other spectators, with one expressing: "No public vote.... what does this mean and should I be scared? " Another voiced their apprehension: "No vote? I don't like the sound of this."

However, Joel Dommett clarified what was happening in the spin-off show Unpacked. He announced that campmates will have to battle for tokens, with those who win them exempt from the next two vote-offs, guaranteeing them a spot on the Celebrity Cyclone.

Last night's episode saw Melvin Odoom voted out of the jungle, becoming the fourth campmate to leave. He followed hot on the heels of Tulisa Contostavlos, Dean McCullough and Jane Moore.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
