During the latest trial on I'm A Celebrity, tensions seemed to rise among the campmates as they tackled a challenge together amongst a swarm of insects.
Tuesday's instalment of the ITV series introduced 'Fright Bus', which had the celebs undertaking the daunting task of manoeuvring red tokens down a yellow pole, all while enduring a cascade of bugs. The contestants were divided into smaller groups aboard the bus for the ordeal.
Ex-professional boxer Barry McGuigan, age 63, was stationed at the tail end of the vehicle with reality TV sensation Maura Higgins, 34, and singer Tulisa Contostavlos, 36, ready for the last leg of the challenge.
Barry maintained his composure amid the insect deluge, but both Maura and Tulisa couldn't help screaming when green ants poured over them. Barry offered support to his teammates during the stressful moment; however, it was hinted that at certain points, he might have been showing signs of frustration.
As Maura struggled and vocalised her unease with the red token still at her end, Barry instructed: "Scrape them off you, come on! Just scrape them off, that's all.", reports the Mirror.
Subsequently, as he took over a portion of the task, Barry urged her: "Shh, calm down." After what seemed like an amused chuckle, he reinforced, "Calm down, calm down, calm down."
The scene sparked quite the buzz on X, previously known as Twitter, where fans didn't hold back their thoughts on the dynamic between the three personalities. Sympathy poured in for Barry, whose son Shane McGuigan reportedly had a brief romance with Maura in 2018, as he found himself sandwiched between two outspoken co-stars, leading some to speculate about potential tension during the trial.
One fan couldn't help but laugh, commenting: "Tulisa and Maura were p***ing Barry right off on that bus." Another viewer also found humor in the situation, posting: "He was clearly trying to hold back from telling them to shut up and get on with it."
A different user quipped: "Poor Barry. Stuck between Maura and Tulisa - man just wants to get done and get home." While another person acknowledged Barry's composure: "Fair play to Barry staying so calm between Maura and Tulisa."
"Poor Barry, stuck between Maura and Tulisa screaming like banshees! And he was so lovely doing more than his fair share of spinning the tokens," remarked one empathetic fan. Echoing the sentiment, another said: "Barry literally going through hell there - stuck in between a screaming Tulisa and Maura ... I feel for him."
Some viewers humorously suggested that Barry's brief vanishing act in the jungle with Tulisa might have been a result of an earlier incident. The pair had set off to collect water, with Barry moving ahead and Tulisa later struggling to locate him.
Although Barry eventually returned, Tulisa informed him he had ventured too deep into the jungle.
A fan speculated: "Wonder if Barry has gone home after being stuck on the bus between two screamers. Tulisa cant find him."
Another viewer joked about the situation, saying: "Barry having to sit between Tulisa and Maura screaming their heads off. No wonder he decided to go missing."
Meanwhile, a third remarked: "Poor Barry trying to keep Maura and Tulisa calm ... No wonder he f***ed off into the jungle."
