ITV I'm A Celeb's Ant and Dec make 'emotional' Barry McGuigan announcement

1 month ago 199

Ant and Dec have been delivering their trademark humour on I'm A Celebrity and this year it was at the expense of boxing legend, Barry McGuigan.

During his first challenge, Barry struggled to secure a star as he couldn't see anything. He was unable to decipher padlock codes in the darkness while confined underground with snakes, alongside McFly's Danny Jones.

Since then, the presenters have been humorously repeating: "He can't see man." Following Barry's unexpected departure from the ITV reality show, Ant and Dec made what they described as an 'emotional' announcement on Friday (December 6) night, signalling the 'end' of their ongoing joke, reports the Express.

Discussing the campmates' reaction to the elimination, Dec began: "They're all so caught up saying goodbye to Maura and Barry."

Ant quipped: "And we got emotional too." to which Dec confessed: "We did." Ant then declared: "We did because that marks the end of the jokes about Barry's eyesight."

Laughter ensued as Dec continued: "Yeah That's it, that's it and I can't see us doing anymore. Well Barry can't see.."

Before Dec could finish, Ant interjected: "You've got to stop. It was fun while it lasted and it turns out he actually can see."

Barry McGuigan and fellow campmate Maura Higgins were booted off the show last night

Dec leapt in: "He can see man." Ant exclaimed: "He can see. He had eye surgery." Last night saw Barry and his fellow campmate Maura Higgins leave the show in a surprising turn of events. The duo were the most recent celebrities to exit the jungle, as part of an unexpected double eviction that left the camp reeling.

Boxer Barry had taken on a paternal role within the camp, especially towards Danny Jones. Reflecting on his departure, he said: "As I'm the original cyclone, I am kinda disappointed with that slipping and looking like a clown, it would've been great."

Love Island's Maura, aged 34, joined the jungle adventure later than the others, arriving at the same time as Reverend Richard Coles.

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here airs from 9pm on ITV and ITVX
