An Irish influencer has shared her harrowing experience of being followed to her hotel room after a night out in Dublin.

Irish fashion and beauty creator Chloe Koyce, who has 180,000 Instagram followers, posted a video on the social media site on Saturday evening recounting a terrifying experience after a night out in the capital with friends.

In a video post captioned 'Please listen', Chloe stressed that she did not want people watching the video to think it was about "me, me, me" but said she was posting it to raise awareness of the need to stay safe in social situations, "especially young girls and boys".

"This video is very different to what I usually upload, but probably the most important video I'll ever put out there," she said.

Chloe went on to detail leaving a venue in Dublin to return to her hotel, which she says was located approximately 50 metres away. She alleges that, after she mentioned the name of the hotel out loud, she was followed there by a man, who also followed her into the lift and to the floor of her hotel room, where her mother was staying.

A visibly emotional Chloe recounted how she pressed record on her phone while she was in the lift and on her way to the hotel room. She inserted excerpts of the footage into the video post on Instagram in which the man she is referring to can be seen but has been blurred out.

Saying that the man had taken off his belt, Chloe said: "I wasn't sure if he was going to strangle me, take off his pants."

In the footage shared by Chloe in the video, she can be seen entering the hotel room shortly after asking the man, who had begun to walk in front of her at that point, if he was OK.

"It's really sad that we can't mention where we are staying, we have to watch each other walk in, we have to wait and watch each other walk in," Chloe said.

Chloe detailed how she reported the incident to hotel reception and was told that a hotel employee had seen the man enter the hotel, but had presumed it was her boyfriend. Chloe was inundated with supportive comments under the post on Instagram.

"Chloe my heart sank seeing him hold the belt, wrote Terri McEvoy.

"Nobody deserves to feel like this. Well done sharing and encouraging women to be more aware of their surroundings."

Alan Clarke wrote: "So well explained. Well done. Sorry to hear you experienced that, it must have been horrific."

Katja Mia, co-host of the Six O'Clock Show on Virgin Media, added: "There's is nothing more you could've done, there are such dangerous predators on our streets it sends shivers down my spine!"

"I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you and I'm so glad you're okay."
