March 16 — Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly been secretly transported to Russia for urgent medical treatment following injuries sustained during recent attacks on Iran, according to foreign media reports.
Kuwait’s Al-Jarida newspaper and the British tabloid The Sun recently reported that Khamenei suffered severe injuries during attacks allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel against Iranian targets. The reports claim that the Iranian leader lost at least one leg in the attacks and also sustained serious liver damage.
According to the reports, Khamenei required treatment at a highly specialized hospital equipped with advanced medical facilities. However, due to continued military strikes on Iranian territory, it was reportedly difficult to provide the necessary treatment within Iran.
As a result, the Iranian Supreme Leader was allegedly transferred to Russia under strict secrecy, with a Russian military aircraft said to have arrived in Iran to transport him.
The reports further claim that the transfer took place at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Khamenei was reportedly taken to Russia and underwent surgery successfully at a residence belonging to the Russian president.
According to the same reports, President Putin had offered to provide medical treatment in Russia during a telephone conversation on the 12th of this month, and Khamenei—who had already been injured—was flown to Russia later that same afternoon.
However, the reports note that it remains unclear whether Mojtaba Khamenei was injured in the same attack that reportedly killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei or in a separate incident.
Foreign media also suggest that this may be the reason why Mojtaba Khamenei has not yet appeared in public since reportedly assuming the position of Iran’s Supreme Leader.
The information has not been independently verified, and Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed these reports.
