Thousands took to the streets of Belfast city centre on Monday as the weather was kind to those taking part and watching the city's annual St Patrick's Day parade.

The annual Belfast parade officially kicked off outside City Hall at 1.30pm and wove its way through the city centre via Chichester Street, turning left into Victoria Street, then left again at High Street and along Castle Place before turning left into Donegall Place and making its way back to Belfast City Hall.

Local dance troupes, schools, community groups and musicians took part in the city centre parade, with the public lining the roads to enjoy a dazzling display of costume, music, dance and theatrical performance.

A number of parades and other events took place around Northern Ireland in Derry, Downpatrick, Armagh, Newry, Kilkeel, Enniskillen, and more.

Here's a flavour of the day in photos captured during Monday's Belfast parade.
